How to Upload a Web Gallery from Lightroom

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is a photography management software program. If you need to showcase your company's products online, you can use the built-in tools of Lightroom to create attractive Web galleries. Lightroom runs on Windows and Macintosh OS computers. If you want to try out the features of the program’s Web gallery tools, you can download a free trial version from Adobe’s website.

Open Lightroom. Browse the “Collection” panel. Click the collection that contains images you want to include in your Web gallery. If you have not imported your images into Lightroom yet, click the “Import” button to find photos on your computer to include into a new Lightroom collection. Drag and drop the photos you want to import from folders on your computer into the image display area from the “Source” panel. Click “Import.”

Click “Edit” from the program menu. Choose “Select All.” Click “Library” from the program menu. Choose “New Collection.” A “Create Collection” dialog appears. Enter a name for your collection in the appropriate field. Click “Create.”

Click the name of your collection in the “Collections” section. You will see all of the images you imported. If the photos are not in the order you want them to appear in a Web gallery, drag and drop the photos to rearrange them.

Click the “Web” tab from the module picker navigation. The default Web gallery template with your photos will now appear in the image display area. Browse the templates listed in the “Template Browser” panel and select one that you like. There are 35 default Web gallery templates included with Lightroom.

Choose a layout style from the “Layout Style” panel. The layout style determines how the gallery arranges images, such as in a grid or with thumbnails with one main image featured. Type a title for your gallery’s Web page in the “Site Title” field in the “Site Info” panel.

Choose the colors you want for your gallery in the “Color Palette” panel if you do not like the default colors of the template you chose. You can also alter the number of rows and columns in the gallery in the “Appearance” panel and choose whether the image captions show along with photos in the “Image Info” panel.

Scroll down to the “Upload Settings” panel. Click “Custom Settings,” then select “Edit.” A dialog appears with fields for you to include the FTP information for your webhost. Enter your FTP server name, username, password and server path in the fields provided. Change the default options for port number and passive mode if necessary. Click “OK.”

Click “Upload.” Navigate to your website to view the gallery.
